Ms Tudor was given the award at a ceremony held at the town hall on Wednesday, September 27 where her and four other Ballarat citizens over 55 years of age had their community contributions recognised.
Ms Tudor was given the top award of the day for her development of the the Bigger Hearts concept which is designed to make Ballarat a more accessible city for people living with dementia.
Ms Turdor has connected with Ballarat residents, local businesses and services to identify strategies and initiatives for the Bigger Heart project.
She has even produced a film that showcases Ballarat residents having conversations with people living with dementia to bring more awareness to the illness.
She established the Ballarat Local Dementia Alliance, was instrumental in the Letters of Love and Dementia Campaign and bought the national symposium on dementia, Small Acts of Love, to Ballarat earlier this year.
“When you have to deal with dementia you have to do something about it,” Ms Tudor said.
“Ballarat is a beautiful city and has a lot of caring people but there are many people who don’t know much about dementia, everything we do is about trying to increase the quality of life of sufferers, we want to make a positive difference.”
“I feel deeply humbled knowing the contribution so many other people make in volunteering in Ballarat; I am surprised but delighted as well because I can peruse the message more.”
Other recipients of awards were Dr Tony Cole, Heather McCallum, Werner Oellering and Kathleen Hobson.
